Art-o-carton #2 prototype at VAC Auction

The second prototype of an Art-o-mat Art-o-carton will soon be up for bids at the "Collector's Night" for the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, Va. The auction will take place the evening of Friday, March 31st.

The intention of the Art-o-carton concept still remains undisclosed and confidential as various intellectual property avenues are currently under review. Regardless, once finalized, this concept will be implemented into the standard and daily operations of Artists in Cellophane, falling fully within the primary goal of establishing personal and tangible connections between our active artists and their buyers.

The minimum bid for this hand constructed carton will be $200. The first Art-o-carton sold for $350 and this one has a few less "kinks" and is closer to the final end piece. Interested parties should contact the VAC at (804) 353-0094 or via e-mail at ashleykistler@visarts.org.

Spring is Near or Global Warming Here?

Regardless, it is March 1st and 74 degrees. So, I (Clark) felt like getting out and showing off the official AIC delivery bike.

This was my first Mountain Bike that I bought with assistance of my Pop in 1986. A few years ago, I was able to convince the owner to sell it back so it could be converted into an urban workhorse. I am guessing at the time, it was being used as a laundry rack. Anyway.....

The original rear dropouts were cracked and the supergirls at Acme Bike Company replaced them with their custom "peace" versions (Look close and you will notice there is a bottle opener feature). Mark Graves fabricated the custom wood rack that today held appx 50lbs of Art-o-mat art delivered to Fedex. Several key componets, specifically the Brooks Spring Saddle and pedals, were purchased from Rivendell Bicycle Works. The final restoration was completed by Charles at Mock Orange Bikes. All of these people are great bike resources.

In 2004, the Art-o-mat delivery truck clocked in 16K miles and in 2005, the truck mileage was 8K. This reduction was all a result of this bike!
