Go "Big Red" Art-o-matŪ Machine!

Actually, it is mostly almond with silver metal flake. But, the machine is fairly big and there is significant red in the design.

We just wanted to convey to everyone that the Nebraska installation went well and the machine is up and running. Everyone in Lincoln was extremely nice and we met several people who came to Winston-Salem earlier this year for the Wake Forest football game. It was cool of the UNL Art Dept to hook us up with 4th row seats for their last home game of this season. Around Saturday, I remembered that I brought a camera. So, the bulk of our pics are from the game.

But, the students created some great prototypes and hopefully we'll have them in our machines soon. Also, Scott Blake came out for our presentation. It was good to see him on his own turf.

Again, we are very happy that the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln has taken us under their wing.

Glass work sells for $200!

Here at AIC, we always like to share stories about artists who incorporate Art-o-matŪ into their overall production and promotion of their work.

Chuck Scalin (Richmond, Va.) is very active in his arts community. Eight years ago, he developed and curated a fund raising effort for Artspace Gallery in Richmond. The name of this show is "Think Small". This invitational biannual exhibition has grown to include over 200 local, national and international artists who have accepted the challenge to produce work no larger that 3"x3"x3" in all media.

This past summer for our 10th anniversary swap meet, Chuck brought small glass works (packaged in our boxes) to sell and trade. These works were created in very limited edition and disappeared quickly. If any of you snagged one of these pieces at our swap meet, take good care of it. Because, for this year's "Think Small" exhibit, a framed piece from this edition sold for $200!

Above pictures, glass work from the edition and Chuck greeting people at our event.
